Mischa's Outreach

Mischa Barton joined Save the Children’s Board of Celebrities to aid impoverished and other children in need. She recently visited school children in the poverty-stricken town of Soweto.
“I visited a primary school in Soweto, where a lot of the children are orphans and there is a high incidence of AIDS,” the 22-year-old former O.C. star reveals. “I helped prepare and serve lunch to the children; it’s just simple maize and for many it’s the only meal they get. We chatted and I took part in their class. They are heartbreakingly beautiful children. I feel so privileged that I could just meet [the children] and hope to make a difference!”

Mischa Designs For Humanity

Mischa worked the red carpet at the Billabong USA 2nd annual “Design For Humanity” charity event in Los Angeles.
The outing included a custom Billabong bikini runway show featuring product collaboration pieces from Charlotte Ronson, Joy Bryant, Lisa Kline, Jenny Han, Cory Kennedy, and Amber Valleta (all one-of-a-kind bikini collaborations are up for auction on eBay). This year’s event benefited the Surfrider Foundation, which is dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of our world’s oceans, waves and beaches. Mischa also did a recent photoshoot with her adorable pooch.

Mischa has been in the planning stages of launching her own collection of handbags. “Mischa has always loved fashion, especially handbags,” her rep told Elle. The line will be vintage-inspired and all finished by a flower motif hand drawn by the ex O.C. star. Sounds Awesome

Not Now For Mischa

 Mischa attends the ‘Event To Prevent’ Benefit in NYC on Wednesday to raise awareness of the consequences of teen pregnancy.
Mischa recently responded to magazines publishing unflattering photos of her with cellulite.
“Every woman has cellulite. I’ve never claimed to have a perfect body,” the 22-year-old actress told OK! magazine. “I eat healthy, I work out. I feel very comfortable. I come from a European family that’s always very comfortable with their bodies. You are what you are as a woman. Trust me, there have been some low points in my life where I got really depressed about it, but in general, I find it’s smarter to not get depressed and not feed into it.”

Mischa Opts Out

Mischa Barton, not only did she have to actually, like, attend the Down Under version of the MTV Awards on Saturday, she had to stick around for Australian Fashion Week as well.
Barton - who cut a sullen figure on the red carpet at the awards but still managed to dance up a storm at the after-party - narrowly avoided a fashion crisis when she wore the same dress, by local designer Willow, as the singer Delta Goodrem, who fortunately appeared only via videolink.
Barton, who is represented by the modelling agency that supplies the fashion week models, was front-row at Kirrily Johnston, seated next to the event organiser, Simon Lock, and wearing a Johnston dress from last season. Also in the front row were Miranda Otto and Jess Origliasso, one half of the Brisbane poppettes the Veronicas.
Wearing frocks from the latest Johnston collection were David Jones's outgoing and incoming darlings, Megan Gale and Miranda Kerr.
Attending minus her Hollywood boyfriend, Orlando Bloom, Kerr stuck around patiently for photographs after the show, telling SiT that it was "definitely a very different experience from modelling on the runway". She fronts up again for Alex Perry tonight, followed by sass & bide's vie show on Thursday.
The first day of fashion week wrapped last night with a disco party for MAC make-up.
Dannii Minogue, fresh from attending shows such as Nicola Finetti, performed for left-over MTV talent such as the rapper Eve and the indie muso Juliette Lewis but there was no love from Mischa.
Although she was originally tipped to attend, the actress opted out and was expected to be on an early flight home this morning.
